The following question, for example, "If You don't read the Newspapers, why?" answer only those respondents who chose the latter alternative, and the sociologist, by showing an arrow and pointing to the question number, sends a certain group of respondents to this question and at the same time cuts off another group of respondents who do not regard this question.
All of this may seem redundant, since the text of the question it is clear that it refers only to those respondents who did not read Newspapers. However, practice shows that this additional indication will not interfere, as often respondents the following question in a different context, namely, why, in his opinion, some people don't read Newspapers. And it already absolutely other information.
Sometimes interviewing different groups of respondents, and in this case, of course, not all questions can be intended for particular groups of respondents. In these cases, the number question is liter, for example, 01A; 25.B, and in the note indicate who is to answer these questions. If we conduct a study on integrated study of some phenomenon and, accordingly, the respondents of different groups of the population, then, of course, different units will address different population groups. Application letter allows for each of these groups to distinguish between the questions: alone, answer the questions under the letter A, others by the letter B.
Decals contribute to the effective work of the respondents, but not abuse them. Too often their use is, on the contrary, to impede the reading of the questionnaire, to divert the attention of the Respondent. All should know the measure.
4. It is necessary to provide in the questionnaire a place for answers to semi-closed or open questions, and any other sayings and inscriptions. Usually in semi-closed questions after the entire set of alternatives is left place (held two or three solid lines) and explained that here the Respondent can write a response like, "What else, write_____________ ...". The same is done in an open question, but retained not just two or three lines and more, not to restrict the Respondent in his desire to speak. Sometimes the respondents fill whole pages of the questionnaire when answering the question.
Each researcher chooses its own technical apparatus of the questionnaire. But you must remember two rules.
First. Selecting the system the technical design of the questionnaire, you must follow it to the end, and do not change from question to question without special needs. This can greatly interfere with the work of the respondents. The technical apparatus of the questionnaire should facilitate the working methods, not complicate it.
Second. Technical design of the questionnaire - not an end in itself and has value and meaning within the framework of the objectives for the study. Only in this case can be justified on one or another technique successfully used in the questionnaire.
