The advantage of such questions is that they allow you to remove more concise information, for example, separately for physical education and sports, in General, from the whole complex of physical exercises. But the use of the method of combining concepts is justified only if the new concept is already familiar to the respondents and not only to one sociologist.
Use this question type, you can also in the case that the General concept will be specifically identified and given its name. For example, "do You Have any (moral, material) promotion this year?". Here introduced the General concept of "encouraging" and indicated that it in itself contains in this case only the moral and material incentives. This issue will not cause difficulties for the Respondent, since it will specifically target mandatory included in the overall concept.
But it is impossible to formulate a question thus: "did You in this year of moral and material incentives?" ("Yes", "no). With this formulation it turned out the question with two sub-questions without defining the General concepts. The Respondent will have or you can select any question to find the answer, or independently to develop a common concept and thus to respond immediately to two sub-questions and the question in General.
The question "do You Love spending weekends outside the city (in the woods or on the river)?" is given first, the General concept of "weekends" offer is very familiar to most respondents, and then specified "in the woods" and "at the river", this clarification helps to cut off other possible places of a weekend getaway outside the city.
