All these operations vary according to
era and type of discourse. "Philosophical author" design is not as
"the poet"; and the author of the novel works in the XVIII century, designed not,
as in our days. However, over time it is possible to detect a certain invariant in
the rules of design author.
For example, I think that the way that literary criticism in
for a long time defined the author - or, rather, designed
form-the author on the basis of existing texts and discourses - that the way this
is a fairly direct derivative of the way in which the Christian
tradition has certified (or, conversely, deny) the authenticity of the texts
which she possessed. In other words, to "find" the author
a work, modern criticism uses a scheme very similar to
Christian exegesis, when the latter wanted to prove the value of text via
the sanctity of the author. In De viris illustribus, Saint Jerome explains that
many of the works of homonymy is not enough to legally
to identify the authors: different individuals can carry the same name
or one could - intentionally - to borrow the name according to the other. Name as
individual labels are not enough when dealing with textual
tradition. How, then, to attribute different texts of one and the same
the author? How to activate the function of the author to know whether the case
with one or with multiple individuals? St. Jerome gives four
criteria: if among several books attributed to an author, one
inferior to others, then it should be deleted from the list of his works (author
is defined here as a certain constant level of value);
