With equal safety the motion of the moon around the Earth could be back the movement of the Earth around its axis; likewise, the movement of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn could not agree with the direction in which these planets rotate on its axis. But since none of these possibilities had then this uniformity must be considered in the present case, in all other as proof of the subordination of these phenomena to some General law; it presupposes the existence of what we call natural causation as opposed to arbitrary dispensation. Thus, the hypothesis of the development would be the only likely even in the absence of any guidance on this particular development. But when a mathematician whose authority is second to none, offering us some theory of this development, based on positive doznania mechanical laws and explaining it is how these different features, so and many others minor, then we are left with almost no possible to resist the inference that the Solar system happened by gradual development.
