In the myth we find the same three-element system, which I just
that said, signifier, signified and sign. But a myth is a special
system and the feature of this is that it is created on the basis of
some of the sequence of characters that exists before it; a MYTH
IS A SECONDARY SEMIOLOGICAL SYSTEM. Sign (that is, the result
the Association of concept and acoustic image) of the first system becomes
only a signifier in the second system. It's worth mentioning again that the material
the mythical carriers of the message (proper language, photography, painting,
advertising, rituals, objects, etc.), however different they may
in and of themselves, as they become part of the myth are
the function of signification, they are only reference material for
the construction of the myth; their unity is that they all are endowed with
status of language. Whether it is a sequence of letters or
the illustration to the myth they represent a symbolic unity, global sign,
the end result, or the third element of the primary semiological system.
The third element becomes the first, that is part of the system that
myth upgrades on the primary system. It is as if the offset
the formal system of primary meanings one mark of the scale. As this
the offset is very important for the analysis of myth, I will try to depict it using
the following scheme; of course, the spatial location of parts diagram
here is just a metaphor.
